A client who signs off quickly at each step can see the site live within days; repeated rounds, or content arriving in dribs and drabs, stretch the timeline mechanically, often far more than the build itself.
And for a bigger site?
A simple showcase site (a few pages, what you do, a contact form) is quick to scope. For something denser, e-commerce, a custom web app, a business platform with a client area, allow several weeks: time to build the specific features (payment, stock management, booking system and so on) and to test the site properly.
